Orientation
**We are working
on our 3rd quarter
sight words this
week for word
study. Please make sure students practice their words a little each
night.
Read-a-thon is coming up! Please make sure to read the flyer very
carefully. We are doing all of the reading in school to this year to
help out. We also have a new online donation system to help family
members and friends make donations. Parents will need to create a
profile to use the online donation system. Flyers should be coming
home on the 19th.

This Week…
Math: SOL 2.16-The student will identify, describe, compare, and
contrast plane and solid geometric figures
(circle/sphere, square/cube, and rectangle/rectangular
prism).
Math Facts: For the third quarter, students will have 3 minutes to
complete 50 addition or subtraction problems to 20.
*Continue to practice Math facts at home.
Content: SOL 2.1: The student will explain how the contributions
of ancient China and Egypt have influenced the present world in
terms of architecture, inventions, the calendar, and written
language. (Will also need to identify China on a world map).
Important Dates…
*February 19th-March 4th-Lowes Island Read-athon (Students will be setting a goal to read at
least 30 minutes in school each day. They will be
encouraged to get family members/friends to
make donations to help encourage meet this
challenge.)
February 26th-Variety Show (7:00 pm)
March 11th-PTO Irish Bingo
March 21st-25th-Spring Break
March 29th-Spring Picture Day
