Happy Monday!
This coming week in our classroom, we are working on:
*Social Studies-Economics (Test on Tuesday or Wednesday), Start
unit on Mexico
*Math-Multiplication
*Writing –Letter to a future 2nd graders
*Reading-Applying context clues to figure out challenging vocab

Read for 15 minutes and sign reading log
Reflex for 15 minutes
*We are back to word study this week but will have these spelling
words for 2 weeks!
Wednesday: -Word Study Menu
Read for 15 minutes and sign reading log
*Field Day is this coming Friday in the morning. Please make sure your
child wears his or her musical t-shirt and tennis shoes. There are
some water activities as well, so if you would like to put a change of
clothes in your child’s book-bag for later, you are welcome to do that.
Please put sunscreen on your child before sending them to school. It
will be hot out. Your child should also bring a water bottle and a
bagged lunch. If you ordered a lunch from the school cafeteria for
that day, you do not need to have a bagged lunch. Please let me know
if you have any questions!
Thursday: -Word Study Menu
Read for 15 minutes and sign reading log
Dreambox for 15 minutes
Please send in school store items for the end of the year school
store.  The last store will be on June 10th.
Word Study Announcement: Since this is such a short
week with Memorial Day and Field Day, we will be
continuing to use these word study words the following
week as well. The test for these word study words will be
Friday, June 10th.
A look ahead: Portfolio day/our awards ceremony will be June 9th in
the classroom (10:45-11:45 am)
Friday: Field Day!
Poetry Notebook comes home – read poem to family
members. Try to get signatures so you can get the
magic number!

This Week…
Math: Working on Multiplication to help prepare for 3 rd
grade
Math Facts: For the fourth quarter, students will have 3
minutes to complete 50 addition or subtraction problems to
20.*Continue to practice Math facts at home.
Content
SOL 2.7-The student will describe natural resources
(water, soil, wood, and coal), human resources (people at
work), and capital resources (machines, buildings, and
tools).
2.8-The student will distinguish between the use of barter
and the used of money in exchange for goods and services.
