Kindergarten Homework Instructions

This is your child’s homework journal. Please keep the journal with
assignments at home until the end of the month. This book will have the
Homework Calendar attached each month when the journal is returned to
the student.

Send the Homework journal back to school on the last school day of each
month. This will give the teachers time to look over the homework and return
the journal by the next school day or as soon as possible.

Homework is designed to reinforce the skills taught at school. You will need
to read the assignment to your child, but the work should be done
independently by students. It should take between 10-20 minutes per
assignment.

Please have your child use pencil only for writing and crayons or colored
pencils for drawing and coloring. We do not use pens in class and markers
tend to show through the paper.

While homework in Kindergarten is optional, we do encourage students to
complete it. The level of skill required to complete assignments is designed
to build confidence in previously taught skills, as well as prepare them for
homework assignments in the coming years. Your support is appreciated in
helping them succeed.

Please encourage your child to do “quality work” in their journal. If you have
any questions, please let your teacher know. Thank you for your
cooperation!
