African American History Project
Assignment: You will choose a single topic from African American History, research it,
and complete one of the following projects. Your topic can consist of anything from
African American History. You will have an opportunity to choose a topic but your
teacher must approve it. You will complete this assignment by using your textbook, the
Internet, and any other materials that you find helpful.
Parts 1- Please select one of the following projects: (Total- 100 points)
1. Tri fold presentation board- this project will include information and visuals
on all 3 sides of the board. You will include at least 6 images and include at
least 400 words of original text.
2. Produce a 3-minute video-Your video should adequately explain your topic.
3. Create a newspaper- You must include at least 3 articles, 3 ads, and include
a total of 600 words.
4. Write a 1,000-word essay.
5. Perform a speech as a Historic personality- Your speech should include 3
props and be at least 4 minutes long. Speech must adequately explain your
topic.
6. Power Point presentation- Should include at least 10 slides, 4-bullets/ page,
and 5 images.
7. Different product- you may come up with an alternative project, although
you must get your teacher’s approval before making this decision.
Part 2- Reasonable progress.(TOTAL= 40 points) I will check to make sure that you
have completed a reasonable amount of your project each day. You will earn up to 10
points per day.
Part 3- I will give an opportunity for extra credit, if you present your project to the class.

Part 4- ESSENTIAL QUESTION: HOW DOES THE AFRICAN AMERICAN
PERSON, PLACE, OR THING IMPACT OUR COUNTRY, SOCIETY,
CULTURE, AND/ OR HISTORY? You will be required to write a 1 page paper
answering this question. Assistance and details to follow.
We will work in class for the remainder of the week and Monday. This project will
require you to work outside of class as well. Library passes can be made available at the
teacher’s discretion. You will be given daily tasks related to your project that you must
complete including graphic organizers, KWL’s, and exit slips from time to time.
