LESSON TOPIC:Absolutism East and West

Pennsylvanians today, and has impacted the United States and the
rest of the world.

of the United States and individuals throughout the world today.
UNDERSTANDING GOALS (CONCEPTS):
Students will understand: Students will understand the
basic tenents of Absolutism as well as its development
in the three great Eastern European Monarchies.
Students will compare its development there to its
development in Westen Europe. Students will also
understand the social movement of the
Enlightenenment and its social implications on
society.
VOCABULARY: Junkers, Boyars, Hohenzollerns,
Romanovs, Czar, Czarina, enlightenemnt, Despot,
and other vocabulary over the next 3 weeks.
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: How does eastern
absolutism differ form its western cousin. How did
the Enlightemnet affect European social and political
life?

Students will be able to:
draw conclusions about cases of historical events
and their overall effects on European history.
