Collaborative Technology Options:
Kathy Fernandes and Bill Evans of the TLP gave an extensive report on collaborative
technology options. Reports were distributed to the committee. TLP is currently
operating a FirstClass server with approximately 2000 users on-line. Academic
Resources plans to continue to support FirstClass through the end of the 98/99 academic
year.
Student Lab
Computing Services is in the process of verifying what machines are in the labs. Need to
look at ways we can get better equipment for student use. Special software could be put
on servers which could be pulled down from various sites. Need to gather information
about each lab in order to determine how to enhance facilities. Printer availability and
accounting processes for printing costs are also problems. Need overall buy-in to a plan
from AAC/deans in order to improve the labs. Some colleges like Business have been
able to benefit from corporate partnerships.
