Introductions (Bill Post)
Bill discussed why the Web Content Committee exists, membership of the Web Management
Committee, and the creation of the Web Design Team. He then gave a brief overview of Chico’s
Web site and asked the committee if it was working for all of our constituents – students, alumni,
faculty & staff, donors, parents, and prospective students. The committee members introduced
themselves and Kathy Fernandes was introduced as the WCC chair.
Committee Charge (Kathy Fernandes)
Kathy presented the “Unified Approach to the Chico Web Site” slide from a presentation given to
CAD last fall, showing the intersection of web governance, web content management, and
accessible technology (ATI) and where the Web Content Committee fits in. Kathy briefly discussed
our new web content management system (WCMS), Hannon Hill Cascade Server, and how it will
help us to become more compliant with accessibility laws as well as make it easier for office
personnel to update department Web sites without much technical training.
Assignment
Kathy handed out an assignment for the committee to complete for the next meeting – a list of
questions to think about when browsing other CSU and UC Web sites, such as “how easy is it to
find information?” and “after looking at the home page, what can you say that you know about the
university?” The committee will discuss their thoughts at the June meeting.
Meeting Frequency/Records
The committee will meet once in June, three times during the fall semester, and three times during
the spring semester. All dates are TBD. Jaime Nelson will be keeping meeting notes and posting
them and other committee documents to the WCC Web page:

Questions/Comments
Duane Knudson asked about students on the committee. We do have a member of AS government
on the committee, but the members agreed that it would be a good idea to have another student,
perhaps a student employee who would be likely to attend.
