Analyze the importance of detail in determining character. Read first paragraph from “Eveline” by James Joyce and discuss in groups. Describe each of the characters’ personalities: Eveline, her father, and Frank. Predict what Eveline will do by the end of the story, and justify your belief using clues from the story. 2. In groups, review both the SOAPSTone strategy using the poem Woman Work as well as poetic devices (see handout) using the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud. 3.
