Facts about the Moon The Moon are the second brightest object in the sky after the Sun. It is over four billion years old. Humans first first landed on the Moon on July 20, 1969. Since there is a strong gravitational force between the Earth and the Moon, it causes the oceans to have tides. It has no atmiscphere and therefore the Moon still has millions of craters. We cannot see the Moon completely at all times because of the movement of the Earth and the Sun. It goes through phases starting with new, which means not visible, to full, which means completely vsble.
