Director Purpose Purpose: The Director will report to the President and have primary responsibility for managing the University's relationship with the State Legislature. Essential Functions Function 1: Respond to legislative requests for information. 20 % Time Function 2: Evaluate pending legislation and prepare detailed analysis on impact of bills on UT Arlington. 20 % Time Function 3: Prepare educational briefings for administration. 20 % Time Function 4: Assist in preparing testimony for the President, Provost and other administrative leaders. 20 % Time Function 5: May testify at committee hearings. 20 % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other functions as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Government or Political Science. At least 15 years of directly related experience with demonstrated familiarity with state higher education and research policy interests. A thorough understanding of the legislative process. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legislative issues and to develop impact statements. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to work effectively with diverse interests, stakeholders, and other constituencies to bring about consensus in a variety of contexts.
