Director of Distance Education Purpose Purpose: Directs design, production, and administration of distance learning course-ware at UT Arlington for delivery through UT Arlington and University of Texas Online Consortium. Works closely with on campus and external relationships to promote growth and recognition with distance education at UT Arlington. Essential Functions Function 1: Directs creation of course-ware including oversight of: instructional design, graphic and media production, programming, testing, and quality control. 30 % Time Function 2: Co-directs budget with Assistant Vice President, having signature authority. 20 % Time Function 3: Liaisons with academic and administrative units on campus to define and provide adequate support, policy, and procedure for efficient operation of distance learning efforts on campus. 10 % Time Function 4: Liaisons with other entities including government, industry and non-profit for external partnerships. 10 % Time Function 5: Represents UT Arlington as a representative in the UT System and through professional organizations through committee and task force services. 10 % Time Function 6: Strategic planning for the role of the Center within the UT Arlington campus, including: goal setting, action items, implementation, evaluation and progress tracking. 10 % Time Function 7: Ensures compliance with applicable University policies and local, state, and federal requirements. 5 % Time Function 8: Seeks out funding sources for new distance learning efforts. 5 % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other functions as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Master's degree in education or related field. 5 years experience in distance education, instructional design, and/or instructional technology. 2 years experience with production and project management.
