Common Nouns – names any person, place, thing, or idea
Pronouns – a word that takes the place of one or more nouns and the words that
describe those nouns
Adjective – a word that modifies, or describes, a noun or a pronoun
Types of Verbs:
Action verbs – a word that names an action
ex. walk, shout, think, know
Linking verbs – connects the subject of a sentence with a noun
or adjective in the predicate.
ex. be, become, seem, appear, look, grow,
turn, taste, feel, smell, sound
Helping verbs – helps the main verb tell about an action or
make a statement.
ex. be (am, is, are, was, were), has, had, have
Adverb – a word that modifies, or describes, a verb, adjective, or another adverb
Preposition – a word that relates a noun or pronoun to some other word in the
sentence
Conjunction – used to connect parts of a sentence
Interjection – a word or group of words that expresses strong feeling
