Cotton is a real pain!
Before the Revolutionary war, slavery was dying.
Then… cotton.
Cotton only planted on plantations where the fields could be rotated.
So slavery figures rose again. BUT…
• Slaves had to separate the fibers of the tight clinging cotton from its black seed,
by hand.
