I am commenting as an "individual", although I am also a small businessman. Please adopt a system as close to the Fair Tax proposal as possible; and, do it quickly! The current system inhibits the growth of our economic well-being as individuals and as a country. It allows the Federal/State/Local governments [the government] to take from those who are productive, and simply give to those the government deems 'worthy'. However, the main reason to change is simplicity. It should not be so hard/confusing to pay your taxes. A tax on consumption is infinitely better (with all its inherent challenges) than a tax on income (i.e., productivity). Make our economy even stronger than it is, reduce the power of the government to simply take our money and hide what is done with it in the process, and encourage people to be more creative in a productive way that also encourages personal responsibility. Thank you. Your Favorite!
