Importance of Improved Genetics
Objectives:
This lab is to make the students more aware of improved genetics in their lives.
Lesson Plan Procedure:
First start out by dividing the class into small groups of your choice. With the materials
listed below have the students look through the magazines and fine pictures of animals
that might have improved genetics. Have the students cut out the picture and tape it to the
large sheet of paper. Have them select three pictures. Next to the picture have them write
down the possible genetic improvements made to the animal. After the whole class is
done have each group present their poster.
Materials and Equipment:
Provide students with:
¨ Large sheets of paper
¨ Scissors
¨ Tape
¨ Markers
¨ Magazines that contain a wide variety of animals
Show this project to them first so that they can see what is expected of them.
