COLLOQUIUM Dr. Jessica Clark Thomas Alva Edison High School, Stockton Adventures in Physics Teaching: Tales of a PhD Physicist at an Inner City High School Abstract From the days when I ask myself, "Where am I?" to the days when I find myself in awe of my students, this talk will present the pitfalls and perks of being a high school teacher with a PhD in physics. I will describe the unusual path that led me to Edison High School one year, three months, and 16 days ago (but who's counting?), along with my reasons for taking on this adventure in the first place. Finally, this talk will offer a glimpse into the challenges of educating today's adolescents, especially those from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. 3:00-4:30 p.m., Friday, February 12th McLane 162 Refreshments served! All welcome,
