Edison’s Carnival was a huge success. Our PTO is amazing and we would
like to thank you for all the support and volunteering provided by the
Edison community. This PTO project earned over $3,232 which will help to
provide additional projects and services on our campus for this year and
next. It was a great event and we know that so many of our families gave a
great deal to make it so much fun. Thanks on behalf of the students and
staff that will benefit from your hours of work and organization.

Edison participated in our first site evacuation safety drill. We were
observed by district personnel to see how our plans would be
implemented. Our students were well behaved and respectful during the
drill. We were complimented for how well they did during the 30 minute
drill. Thanks to our staff (Safety Committee) that organized the drill and
prepared the plan. This practice helped us identify some areas of need in
the event of an actual emergency. Edison classes also participate in lock
down and fire alarm drills to get students and staff prepared for safety
events that could take place on campus.
Congrats to the Edison 6th Grade
Math team coached by Mrs. Park.

Reduce Screen Time—Limit Computer & Television Usage
For many of us, limiting our computer usage and getting away from all screens can be a challenge. That means
television (TV) screens, computer monitors, and even the handheld devices we use for checking e-mail, listening
to music, watching TV, and playing video games on the go. Health experts say screen time at home should be
limited to two hours or less a day, unless it’s work- or homework-related. The time we spend in front of the
screen could be better spent being more physically active (increasing our ENERGY OUT), and setting a good
example for our families.
Tips for a Successful Year
When it comes to kids—parents and caregivers should not only set a good example, they need to set rules that
limit kids’ computer time, TV watching, and video game playing to reduce how much time is spent in front
of a screen. Research by the Henry J. Kaiser Foundation has shown that setting rules about media use is a

Use creative vocabulary. Teach the meaning of words and synonyms. Connect their experiences to their
words used. Think of the setting and extend what you could use to talk to your child. They’ll love it.
Developmental Milestones
What to do if you have concerns about your child’s development for the ages (birth to 3 years)?
By age 1- you should see crawling and see responses to their name.
By age 2- you should see them pointing to objects and imitation.
By age 3- you should see a range of emotions and comprehension of simple stories
If your child is already 3 and you have concerns, contact our office and we can get you the information for
a screening with our district personnel. This is part of the Child Find identification program.
