Judicial Branch Report
a. Chief Justice – Danny Powers sgajc@unf.edu (5-minutes)
- We do have one person going up for Judicial confirmation tonight. As well as the changes being made to
Title 6, ad hoc committee, I have the pleasure of sitting on that. Other than that that’s all I have.
XI.
Executive Branch Reports
a. Osprey Productions –John Chwalisz opdir@unf.edu (3-minutes)
-
This week we haven’t had too much going on. We have begun our interviews for our coordinators, 15 total. We have
done 6 so far. As always if you see me come and say hi.
b. Club Alliance –Justin Dato sgacluba@unf.edu (3-minutes)
- I have got all of the general meetings set up. I have the applications for coordinators out today, 3 positions
available. Also, hopefully Katie Jackson will be confirmed to AD tonight.
c. Attorney General –Matthew Harris sgaag@unf.edu (3-minutes)
- I would like to defer my time to President Turner.
d. Treasurer –Morgan Wolf sgasbt@unf.edu (3-minutes)
- Morgan is in china, COS Waychoff will be taking over responsibilities during her absence.
e. Vice President – Tony Stevens sgavpres@unf.edu (3 minutes)
- I have been walking around doing Orientations along with Andrew and Gracie. After just one week of
orientations we have had several applications going out.
f. President – Joe Turner sgapres@unf.edu (5-minutes)
- President Turner: We set the Ozzie statue location, pending president’s approval, underneath the big flag pole
in the student union loop. We are evaluating a live osprey nest cam; COS Waychoff brought this to my
-
attention. This will help to increase school spirit. We are also working on getting a 24 hour library. We are
slated to get $8 million dollars, which will allow us to do projects we haven’t been able to do before. I am
looking into support services for non-traditional and traditional students. I signed an executive order for an
ad hoc committee for elections. I think it is important to get people in this room involved on this. With the
help of Senate President Pro-tempore Gloster, Sen. Savage, and AG Matt Harris we have compiled a
recommendation report regarding this change to title 6.
Harris: This change would remove the E&A chair to create the Elections position. This change would change
about 7 titles. The idea here is to simplify the elections process. This change recommends cutting Senate
seats, including graduate seats and college seats. We would move to a total of 40 senate seats.
President Turner: I 100% support this recommendation. I look forward to making these changes.
XII.
Legislative Cabinet Reports
a. Constitution and Statutes Committee – Chairman Shomari Gloster sgacsc@unf.edu
- The CSC committee will be meeting this summer at 5:30 in this room. If you have any questions
regarding absentee points please email me.
b. Budget and Allocations Committee – Chairman Michael Rotella sgabac@unf.edu
- I have been working a lot with Director Mike McGuire. I have office hours from TWR from 2:005:00, if you ever have any questions. I have a request from Osprey Radio; if anyone would like to
sponsor that, let me know.
c. Elections and Appointments Committee – Chairwoman Katherine Savage sgaesac@unf.edu
- E&A will be meeting at 6:00. I served on Pres. Turner’s Ad Hoc committee, it has very many good
ideas, and I would ask you to please look over the recommendations.
d. University and Student Affairs Committee – Chairman Chase Baker sgausac@unf.edu
- I have the results from Osprey Voice (scantron initiative) we got 80% saying the students support it.
I would like to thank everyone who came out and helped with finals frenzy. My committee will be
7:15 every other Monday.
e. Senate President Kaitlin Ramirez sgasp@unf.edu
- We have a lot to do this summer, as Pres. Turner and AG Harris introduced the AD hoc committee
Please take this very seriously when reading it over. Go through it very thoroughly. If you have any
questions, don’t hesitate to ask me. I look forward to seeing you all in committee meetings next
week, as we need 3 people to establish Quorum. Please let me know if you won’t be able to make it.
As B&A chair Rotella said we need a sponsor for Osprey Radio, summer is a great time to do this.
