Student Remarks
- Connor Spielmaker: Communications major, sophomore. Represents Spinnaker Television. Wanted to
clear up any confusion regarding their budget with their on demand service. On demand service was
quoted up to $3,000. The $2,000 goes towards equipment that allows students to access movies we have
already purchased from their computers. Movies on the on demand service are ones that we have already
purchased. The original contract for movie rentals was cut from $17,000 to $16,000, which means less
movies for students in dorms. But in essence the $3,000 goes towards equipment while all of the movie
copyrights and contracts are pulled from the $16,000 budget.
- Anna Valentine: Vice president of Women’s Business Society, Marketing Major, graduating in August.
Here to support the legislation of SB-14s-2746. We support this budget because it would help us greatly;
we currently are looking to have more funding and easier funding for our club.
- Sen. Petrosyan: Religions Major. Wanted to share campus experience, regarding athletic fee increasing and
taxing on students. Concerned on high fee’s turning away new students wanting to attend UNF. Would
like to start sponsoring.
- Ryan Helregal: President of American Marketing Association. Member of SLAB. Speaking on two
subjects. Fully supporting SB-14s-2746 on easier funding. Sharing experience of attending church the
previous weekend, two strong keywords with meaning: leadership and change. Challenges everyone to be a
better leader.
IX.

X.
Executive Branch Reports
a. Osprey Productions - opdir@unf.edu (3-minutes)
- Since last meeting there has been 4 events, 3 movies, 1 trivia. Last week we had throwback week
where we showed Old School and had trivia. This week on Wednesday night we have My Bloody
Valentine. On Thursday we have open mic night with free ice cream. Please come out to our events.
Shout out to Sen. Helregal for showing up to events this past week, also Sen. Caudio for attending
movie nights. Special thanks to Sen. Glosser for offering help and support. This Saturday begins
homecoming week, first event is the comedy show. Sunday is Swoop for the loop 5k. Our musician
Ke$ha cancelled due to being in rehab and her production cost was $65,000. If you want to see
musicians of that magnitude we need to have money for production costs.
b. Club Alliance - sgacluba@unf.edu (3-minutes)
- Fully supports club-funding bill coming out, thanks Joe for asking for his personal opinion as well as
the clubs opinions.
- Spring Bash is Tuesday February 18th from 1-5PM
c. Attorney General – sgaag@unf.edu (3-minutes)
d. Treasurer – sgasbt@unf.edu (3-minutes)
Joseph Turner:
- 11 fewer indexes funded this year than last year.
- Funding based on 4 core areas: recreation (all indexes), student union (1 indexes),
spinnaker media (4 indexes), and student government (all indexes).
- Allows us to focus on what we do and how well we do it – more efficient.
- Internal Student Government Indexes: Everyone’s phone lines were cut and condensed,
everyone’s office supply line were condensed/cut/balanced.
e. Vice President – sgavpres@unf.edu (3 minutes)
- Anthony R. Stevens: Presents homecoming committee. Homecoming is a student government event,
volunteers are needed. Passed around a sign up sheets for events.
f. President – sgapres@unf.edu (5-minutes)
- Carlo Fassi: Seconds everything said previously about homecoming, we fund the events and shows
university pride. Appointed a new attorney general – Haley Guerra. Last week attended a conference
in Tallahassee, which was canceled due to weather, but there will be a kick-start to aim higher
fundraising event from 12-2pm February 26th. This may be the first year in many recent years that
state tuition does not increase. Haley passed out a student fee assessment committee
recommendation form the student fee assessment committee is made up of half students and half
administrators appointed by Student President. SG did not ask to increase student fees this year (2nd
year in a row without asking for an increase). 5% increase was equal to $1.56. Health fee is divided
into 4 different departments. Counseling center asked for a $.30 increase for their employees to
receive a raise, they went with $.10, health promotion center asked for $.5 increase. Athletics
requested $1.56, they have fixed costs with scholarships for their athletes; they pay higher tuition
rates for their athletes. Transportation access fee did not ask for an increase. We increased fee by
$1.09. We’ve requested that academic affairs to fund teachers/professors for scantrons, so that
teachers will bring them to class instead of having to buy them or come to SG to get them or
accidently get the wrong color. Commending Sen. Waychoff’s committee. $4,000 being funded to the
campus Recreation staff.

- This is one of our most important senate meetings of the entire year. Budget and Allocations
committee have worked very hard. Recommended to take what they did and value it, that committee
