RECRUITMENT OF TEAM MEMBERS
In an attempt to build up the number of members on the Education Team, Kelly recommended that
the group consider adopting some Guiding Principles. The consensus was that it would be a good idea
to adopt such a document, but the proposed document needs some changes. The following changes
were recommended:
 Membership description needs to have potentially 3 categories:
o Level 1 would include those described on this document
o Level 2 would be those who do not wish to commit to a Term Length…just come and
go as their schedules allow
o Level 3 would be those on sub-committees such as the Teacher Appreciation
committee



We also need to add to the Level 1 category the following:
 SMS board member
 Active teacher
Change Principals to Standing Members
Duties are: “To attend meetings and participate in activities to fulfill the mission of raising
expectations.”
ACTION ITEM:
o Kelly: Redo document and send out to committee to review
2010/2011 ACTIVITIES
 Kelly handed out a 2010-11 schedule
 Suggested that committee chairs write up reports to pass on to the next person
ACTION ITEM: Team Leader will need to remind committee chairs to submit reports at the
completion of an activity.
BUDGET
 Kelly provided Income Statement for Team
 This statement did not include Sue Kenady’s Dot donation of $400. Thanks, Sue!
WHAT ABOUT a PTO?
Kelly was asked by Jori to discuss the possibility of starting a PTO in BC. As we were not
presented with any of the facts of what is involved in starting and sustaining a PTO, the group could
not provide any real input. The comments made by members were all about “what we think” rather
than “what we know”. Information will need to be provided on the PTO organization.
FUNDRAISER
In the Fall, we are going to auction off a BC sports quilt made up of all BCHS sport team t-shirts.
Kitty Mountain said she make the quilt for $50. We just need to give her 35 t-shirts.
ACTION ITEM:
 217-617-5036 Daina’s number. She is in charge. Get her the shirts!

BCAT Community Betterment Meeting
Members present – Brandon Gallaher and Steve Gragg
Steve and I discussed the progress of the farmers market. Everything seems to be going fine. No changes
seen at this time necessary. We both are concerned about no bathroom being available, but if the
vendors aren’t complaining, then feel there is no need to make changes at this time.
Would like to look at additional vendors and more word of mouth about the farmer’s market. Would like
to see this grow more.
Discussed putting together an action plan for the welcome sign’s. Steve has an outline and a basic
timeline. Additional funds would be needed and hopefully more member support.
Looked at some cookbook samples. Decided we need to make sure we have the rest of the team on
board to help before we go too much further. We know we need to get busy if we can have them done
by fall.
Discussed acquiring the Brown County Car Show and Cruise. Feel this is a great fit to our team and
discussed expanding it to a second show in Versailles during the fall festival. Also discussed monthly
cruises between each of the car show’s. Feel this will bring residents out more, and maybe bring others
from outside the community as well. Maybe generate more local business and fundraising opportunities
to local groups. Next action item for this is for Brandon to try and create group of people interested in
being in a sub group that would just help with all things car show and cruise night. If the sub group idea
works, we can expand to have additional sub groups.
Steve and I also discussed the lack of attendance with our group. With this time of year it seems it’s very
difficult for our members to come. We are going to start with an e-mail out to our whole team, and also
try to get new members, and see how the sub group idea works out. Maybe we can find a renewed
participation if we have a larger number of people with some only doing the events or groups they show
an interest in. We’ll see how it goes and make changes as we need to.
