Air Track Collisions (1N30.30) Location: 15-5R, 6-left Concept/Purpose: Collisions in One Dimension. Procedure/Explanation: The air track is a long hollow metal track with holes through which air is expelled. Provided with the track are metal carts that glide back and forth on top of the air columns with very little friction. Various cart accessories are available: rubber bumpers to demonstrate elastic collisions; Velcro or wax to demonstrate inelastic collisions; weights to modify the carts’ mass.
