TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN SCIENCE:
A. You will need in class EVERY day:
-

Pens (BLUE or BLACK ONLY).
-
PENCILS
B. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Come to class daily
2. Be in your seat, quiet, and ready to begin work WHEN THE BELL RINGS.
3. BE PREPARED FOR CLASS!
4. Record complete and accurate class notes.
5. Have RESPECT for your teacher, classmates and YOURSELF
6. Follow teacher’s instructions
7. Complete all homework assignments on time.
8. Make up missed work due to absences.
9. Report for extra help when needed.
10. Study for tests and quizzes.
11. At the end of class the teacher will dismiss you, Do Not just leave when the bell sounds!
C. CLASSROOM PROCEDURES
PARTICIPATION- completing the “Do Now”, participating in class discussions, answering questions,
and completing/handing in classwork all fall under good class participation. Being unprepared,
calling out, disrupting, and lateness can result in deductions from these points.
HOMEWORK – Most homework will be part of a homework packet given at the beginning of each
unit and is due on the day of the exam of that unit. Occasionally, individual homework will be given
and is due at a particular time set by the teacher. Partial credit will be given for incomplete work. If
you are absent you are responsible for finding out from another student or from my website what
homework has been assigned. The assignment must be made up within a reasonable amount of
time. Speak with your teacher to discuss your missing work. If no written homework is assigned you
are expected to review notes and other materials in preparation for tests and quizzes. Homework
will determine 20% of your grade.
Since everything we do in class counts toward your grade, it is very important that you do ALL your homework assignments.
If a student or parent wishes to know if there is a homework assignment, or when an assignment is
due, they can visit my website. See instructions below.

D. QUIZZES/TESTS
Each week, a Do Now form will be turned over for a quiz grade. Therefore, it is important that each
student makes sure to answer their Do Now each day and not to misplace the form.
All tests are based directly on class notes from that particular unit. Therefore, it is extremely
important for students to maintain an organized notebook with complete notes. If you are absent you
must obtain a copy of the notes and worksheets from either your teacher or a classmate prior to the
exam.
E. ABSENCE
IF YOU HAVE BEEN ABSENT, SPEAK TO THE TEACHER TO ARRANGE COMPLETING
MISSED WORK
F. PROJECTS- Projects submitted late will lose 10 points per day late. Projects are worth a test grade.
G. EXTRA HELP
Students should report for extra help when absent or needed.
H. BEHAVIOR
Students are expected to follow school rules and procedures. Absolutely no cell phones, hats, etc.
Inappropriate behavior or language will result in punishment.
I.
