Summer class caps discussion Jim Caps are the same in the summer as they are during the academic year unless there is a rationale for having a lower maximum enrollment. 2. Professional Improvement Grant Criteria Shawn Reviewed the current criteria for these funds. Can we add some additional documentation to the requests, to learn more about the organization that is sponsoring the conference and the acceptance rate of proposals for presentation. Separate requests for conference presentations and travel for research? AGENDA ITEMS 1. NSU Tribal Exchange 15 minutes Anton Treuer Update on Tony’s conversations with student and faculty exchange programs with other universities (OK and HI). Need to find financial resources to help fund student travel. Intention is to expand student study abroad options to include native nations, as well as multicultural experiences. Focus on language, cultural and environmental areas. 2. Guidelines for Deans reviewing IFO requests Attachment 1 & 2 Patrick Provided guidelines for most common requests to deans, to help move these request from Patrick to the Deans. Can be somewhat reasonably unreasonable. Needs to be connected to professional development. Will go to meet and confer as an informational item. 3. Proposal for streamlined curriculum approval for non-substantive changes Attachment 3 Patrick Some changes may not need to go through the full curriculum process; for example creating a minor within a major with existing courses. Discussed what items are considered non-substantive. Will go to meet and confer as an informational item. 4. Course evaluations Attachment 4 Patrick Updated proposal, to include both online and scannable options. Discussed rationale for providing faculty with both options, and which one should be the default option. 5. Other Hiring checklist – request for a timeline for filling vacancies, from start to offer. Patrick shared a draft.
