Objectives On completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. Define risk, risk management, insurance, and the risk management process. 2. Identify the fundamental types of risk exposure and the alternative methods of dealing with risk. 3. Explain the requisites of insurable risk from the standpoint of the insurer and from the standpoint of the insured. 4. Discuss the benefits and costs of insurance to society. 5. Explain the legal environment of insurance and specific legal concepts and terminology related to the insurance industry. 6. Explain specific insurance contract provisions related personal insurance contracts.
