Ward’s What’s Happenings? McLees Academy of Leadership Week of September 30, 2013 LeaLeader Reading: We will begin reading our first story in our Reading book called The Trial of Cardigan Jones. We will work on the skills in that story all week. We will focus on “Conclusions” and Inference/Predicting. Writing/Grammer: Your leaders will be continuing cursive writing and learning/applying the “Writing Process” and “Writing Traits” to their writing pieces. We will also learn about the types of sentences. (Statements, Questions, Commands, and Exclamations). Math: We will work on learning/understanding how to add 3-digit Keep sending in those Box Tops!!! It’s a contest. Graded papers will be sent home this week. Please review and sign the folder. Be sure to return the folder the next day. Picture money is due. Please send in the money with the photo envelope. Lots of new Social Studies notes this week. It will be homework EVERY NIGHT to study the different Native American tribes of South Carolina. Ice Cream is sold EVERY Friday. Don’t forget to check out my webpage. It is numbers. This skill is always difficult with our third graders. Remind your leaders that we do this daily in our calendar activities. Also, ask them to tell you about “heavy pockets.” Basically, we can’t have more than 9 in each place of a number. ALWAYS a work in progress, however I do provide websites for learning/practicing third grade skills and spelling words. Enjoy!! Social Studies: We will be studying the three Native American tribes that lived in SC. They are the Catawba, Cherokee, and the Yemassee. Be sure to keep up with studying the notes during this unit.
