Our next Meeting IT Updates: Brenda Frieden presented ITC members with the Pitt State LMS survey results for vendor demonstrations – The LMS task force looked at an array of LMS products. They narrowed the search down to 6 products: Blackboard, Edvance 360, Canvas, Desire2Learn, Moodlerooms, and RSmart Sakai. LMS task force members were composed of Faculty, Students, and Staff. Results were tabulated using a rubric rating system. Two vendors were invited to campus for demonstrations (Canvas and Edvance 360). ECAR Study – Educause Center for Applied Research – Angela Neria went over the 2011 ECAR study with ITC Members. The study will be emailed to everyone for review next week. Disaster Recovery (DR) Planning – Angela Neria discussed the DR feedback from the last ITC meeting. An IT DR task force was put together and they are working on completing a disaster recovery plan to implement at PSU. Tim and Angela will be presenting on DR at EDUCAUSE in February. Email Task Force – (Should be called Groupware Task Force). The group will consist of about 18-20 stakeholders from across campus. Angela will be asking for recommendations for this task force. The recommendation process will be very similar to the LMS recommendation process Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance Task Force - Everywhere that we swipe debit and credit cards will be looked at. A PCI task force has been constructed. Shari Brogan and Angela Neria are co-leading it. The task force is currently in the process of learning more about PCI. The goal of the task force is to perform an assessment of the campus. Security Awareness Training – Last spring there was an online training program through ANGEL for testing knowledge on security awareness. This will be released it to all Faculty and Staff. Angela breaks ITC members into teams to discuss: A. Employee Email Accounts B. Collecting parent emails C.
