Minutes: Educational Foundations Department meeting
3/20/13—UC 264 1-3 PM
Welcome 1:00 P.M.
In attendance: Katie Elliott, Beth King, Pam Clinkenbeard, Jenni
Petersen, My Pettit, Mark Schroeder, Scott Peters, Anne Durst,
Mark Jonas via Skype, Greg Valde, Eileen Schroeder, and Alicia
Stone-Jackson as note taker.
Approval of minutes (from 3/6/13) Approved unanimously on a motion
by Scott Peters and second by Mark Schroeder
Items for decision or review:
 Department Tenure and Promotions Standards (copies in mailboxes) discussed
and revised balance tabled for next meeting. (Jenni
Petersen making changes to document during
discussion)
 DSST exam (see copies) None of these questions cover our courses
 Course evaluation revisions (see copies) After lively discussion on the
narrative questions to be used by the department and if
those questions should be required to be used by everyone.
Greg Valde made a motion – We propose that the openended evaluation questions must be administered in all
courses, may be used in or for promotion review. Pam
Clinkenbeard seconded – passed with 7 approving and 4
opposed.
Items for discussion:
 Graduate Council proposal—Mark S. Grad Council proposal –
Change the number of people on council – revise the
requirements for grad faculty with Research in field as a
consideration – next meeting will be April 16th at 3:30 p.m.
– there will be snacks.
 Goals for 2013-14 (see attached) Write your thoughts on the
department goals on the form and give to Anne.
 COEPS website development committee—Beth - Beth is on the
Strategic Planning Advisory Committee to Dean Heyning.
Will have a new website up soon - Caroline from Media
and Marketing is working on the layout of websites so
they are all the same style - will have a mock up to us in 2
to 3 weeks - New pictures are needed for website – must
have OK to release from people in pictures – new content
should be sent to Stanley 
