DID YOU KNOW

Pat Stall – Ingrid, Manuel, Victor, Karen, Nancy, Carol, Sean, & Pat attended the Cultural profiency training, at NCPDF. Everyone thought is was valuable. Phase 1 is now, Phase 2 is August then next is Phase 3.

Would the SOE be interested in doing an activity in Governance about what the group is learning. An activity will be on March 10 th . Find out more about the training here…

Associate Director’s Report (1:20 – 1:25) Ochanji

Fall schedule was looked at in Program Coordinators, there are new approved class meeting times.

Summer schedule, offering prerequisite classes through EL(same as 2153).

Old Business

Faculty Profiles on SoE Website (1:25 – 1:45) Siyahhan/Melinda

Cascade has a folder for each faculty. Faculty will have specific web addresses. Faculty can update their folder or give Melinda and Sinem access to do it for them. Melinda and Sinem will send a template then have a tutorial meeting.

Norms for Governance Community Meetings

As a Governance Community, we agreed that we would:

• Be considerate of other’s ideas • Stay on the topic of discussion • Focus on identifiable tasks • Have variation in the meeting format to provide for some group work •

Divide the agenda into action and information items • Prep ahead of time for the issues that will be discussed at Governance • Help establish quorum by being on time •

Maintain a sense of team by staying issue focused when we disagree • Make sure procedures are clear • Voice opinion in room • Note what the procedural process is up front • Celebrate

New Business

UH 4 th Floor Office Renovations (1:45 – 2.00) (Garcia & Medina)

Denise explained the new office layouts. Faculty will give her feedback on their offices.

The community paired into groups to brainstorm the SOE priorities.

Daniels – PD money can be used for organization membership/dues
