Student Evaluations of Teaching Effectiveness
-Vice Provost Dan Kain and Special Assistant to the Provost Denise Helm
- The new student surveys are now hosted through a commercial provider. The surveys still
appear associated with NAU, but the emails to complete the surveys will come from an outside
source.
- The new survey makes responses completely anonymous & each survey needs to meet a quota
of student feedback in order for instructors to receive the feedback. This is intended to reduce
the chances of an instructor figuring out what students gave feedback.
- We will now get ONE notification for all classes, rather than individual emails. The notification
will be sent three times.
- Students can now complete the surveys on their smartphones and mobile devices.
- The survey will NOT look at GTA classes; Denise will look into classes in which GTAs are the
primary instructors.
-The survey’s effectiveness will be assessed at the end of the 2013-2014 year,
-Denise will take into consideration extending survey deadlines until after finals week ends.
