EL CAMINO COLLEGE Office of the President Minutes of the College Council Meeting of October 21, 2002 Present: Ms. Caldwell, Dr. Caldwell, Ms. Ely, Dr. Fallo, Mr. Hanson, Dr. Hata, Mr. Neesby, Ms. Pickens, Dr. Simon, and Ms. Stewart. TEAM REPORTS Associated Students Organization – Mr. Brian Neesby The car wash fundraiser was a success. The Auxiliary Service will be meeting to decide how to generate more funds through sticker sales. Another fundraiser in the works is a concert for early spring. The students would like to have a competition to generate ideas on what the campus mascot “Warrior” should look like. Academic Senate – Ms. Julie Stewart Ms. Stewart went to the Area C Conference in preparation for the Plenary Session. President - Dr. Thomas M. Fallo In the political arena there is a lot of concern for the fiscal health of California for next year. According to Assemblyman Nakano a special session may be called in January 2003 to discuss budget issues. Mr. Hanson will give a presentation on the Projected FTES for 2002-03 at the next College Council meeting. Facilities Needs The informational campaign on facilities needs has ceased. There will be a newsletter outlining what our needs are. Collegial Consultation Ms. Stewart feels that the Academic Senate is not adequately represented on the Planning and Budgeting Committee.
