Department Updates
o
Career Pathways – Richard Gonzalez:
We are closing out the year for AMETLL (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Technology
Linked Learning). We are closing out the year with invoices, budget reports and the growth plan
for the whole consortium. CAA: We have been doing the recruiting. We are doing recruiting
sessions for the fall every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. We recruit from different areas. On
the CTE STEM Teacher Pipeline we are doing workshops and paid student internships, where
they will be working at El Camino and other colleges. The on-core STEM teacher, we’re looking
at sending people who already have a career back to school at Cal State so that they can look at
going from engineering into teaching. We’re trying to hire a Student Support Specialist. On the
high school side, we just finished our concurrent enrollment program. We did have some issues
this year with the CCC applied website, the state website, with the on-line application. We lost a
lot of students between fall and spring. At CAMS, the school I take care of, we had about 50%
who did not enroll for the spring because they had issues. We went to the campuses to help
them out. Hopefully, this coming semester we won’t see those problems.

d) Minimum wage will be going up in January. Also, starting July 1st, any part-time employee will now
get up to 3 sick leave days (up front). Federal Students will also get them, but we have to pay for
them out of our budget. There are a lot of people on campus that work for different departments and
get paid different rates. So they’re going to be looking at that.
