PTAC 1308 Safety, Health, and Environment I Prerequisite: none Credit: 3 (3 lecture) Development of knowledge and skills to reinforce the attitudes and behaviors required for safe and environmentally sound work habits. Emphasis on safety, health, and environmental issues in the performance of all job tasks and regulatory compliance issues. PTAC 1332 Process Instrumentation I Prerequisites: PTAC 1308, PTAC 1302 and MATH 1314 or Department Approval Credit: 3 (2 lecture, 2 lab) Study of the instruments and instrument systems used in the process industry including terminology, primary variables, symbology, control loops, and basic troubleshooting. PTAC 1350 Industrial Economics Credit: 3 (3 lecture) Examination of the profitability factors of plant operations including personnel and business strategies. PTAC 1354 Industrial Processes Prerequisites: PTAC 1302 and PTAC 1308; Credit: 3 (3 lecture) Study of the processes employed in process plant operations. PTAC 1410 Process Technology I Equipment Prerequisite: PTAC 1302, PTAC 1308 and MATH 1314 or Department Approval Department Approval Credit: 4 (3 lecture, 3 lab) Instruction in the use of common process equipment. PTAC 2314 Principles of Quality Prerequisites: PTAC 1302 and MATH 1314 Credit: 3 (3 lecture) Study of the background and application of quality concepts. Topics include team skills, quality tools, and economics and continuous improvement. PTAC 2420 Process Technology II Systems Prerequisite: PTAC 1332, SCIT 1414, SCIT 1418, PTAC 1410 or Department Approval Credit: 4 (3 lecture, 3 lab) Study of the interrelation of process equipment and process systems including related scientific principles. PTAC 2438 Process Technology III Operations Prerequisite: PTAC 2420 Credit: 4 (3 lecture, 3 lab) This course combines systems into operational processes with emphasis on operations under various conditions. PTAC 2446 Process Troubleshooting Prerequisite: PTAC 2420 or Department Approval Credit: 4 (3 lecture, 3 lab) Instruction in the different types of troubleshooting techniques, procedures, and methods used to solve process problems. Topics include application of data collection and analysis, cause effect relationships, and reasoning.
