San Jacinto College Process Technology Programs Central and North Campus Purpose of the PTAC Program • To provide the petrochemical/petroleum industry with qualify applicants to meet the needs of a fast pace industry. • To help bridge the gap in the industry PTAC Program History • Glycol Unit built in early 1985 • Saudi Arabia engineers (nationals) partnering with Shell-Aramco and Union Carbide-Sadaf in 1985 • Shell and Union Carbide use the plant for hands-on training in 1985 • Certification program (went public – requirements 96 contact hours) 1986 • Degree program 1998 Mission Statement The mission of the Process Technology Department is to provide its students with the best and most up-to-date skills and knowledge required for the profession of a Process Technician in petrochemical/petroleum and related industries.
