Pre AP Math Analysis
Classroom Procedures
2015-2016
Classroom Supplies: 2 composition books (1 for each semester), highlighter (any color), pencils,
box of kleenex, 1” three ring binder, colored grading pen and notebook paper.
Calculators: We will primarily use the TI-84 graphing calculator. All students will need a
calculator for use outside of class. I highly recommend having access to a graphing
calculator at home. There will be times you will have to come in before or after school to
complete assignments where the graphing calculator is needed.
Pen vs. Pencil: ALL correspondence turned into Miss Davis must be done in PENCIL. Work done
in pen will not receive credit.
Grading Policy: Extra credit, when offered, must be directly tied to instructional objectives and the
amount will not exceed 5% of the total semester points. Assignments to be completed at
home serve to reinforce skills practiced in class and their timely completion is necessary for
success on future objectives. For this reason, late assignments are not accepted after a unit
exam. Makeup work for excused absences that meet the district attendance criteria will be
considered for full credit. Please refer to the school policy concerning homework due during
an activity absence. The semester examination will count for 20% of the student’s semester
grade. Only supplemental aides (formulas and/or calculators) provided by the teacher will be
allowed on the semester exam. Scientific and/or graphing calculators will be allowed on
portions, if not all sections, of the semester test. Most days students will have work assigned
to them. They will be given time in class, so much so that on some days they should finish
the work in class. Homework will be graded the day after it is assigned, unless otherwise
stated, and turned in for Miss Davis to record on Friday. Homework will be worth 5 points.
Assessments will be given on a regular basis. Quizzes will be worth up to 50 points and tests
worth up to 100 points. Homework, quizzes and tests will make up 80% of the overall grade.
Notes: All notes will be taken in your composition notebooks. Your notebook will be turned in at
the end of each quarter. Notes will be checked and given a quiz grade. All handouts need to
be glued into your notes in the appropriate place and examples need to be written neatly.
Late work: As mentioned above, late work will not be accepted after a unit exam. Late work will
be accepted before a unit exam for half credit. The student is responsible for coming in
before school or during lunch to grade and turn late work in.
Make-up Work: It is the student’s responsibility to obtain all missed assignments and notes, as
well as make arrangements to make up any missed tests and quizzes. See student hand book
for details.
Attendance: I will follow the Moore Public Schools Attendance Policy. Please remember two
tardies are equivalent to one absence. See your student handbook for further detail.
Food and Drink: Beverage and food policy will be consistent with the Westmoore policy.
Book: Larson Hostetler Precalculus with limits. I will have a class set of books in my room for use
at any time. Students have the option of checking out a book as well. Those students who
check out a book will be responsible for keeping it in the current condition and turning it in at
the end of the year. Not turning in a book will result in replacement fees.
Discipline Plan: I do not expect any problems to arise during my class, but if one does occur, here
are the steps that will be taken to eliminate the problem or disruptive behavior:
First Occurrence: Verbal Warning
Second Occurrence: Detention (15 minutes at the beginning of lunch)
Third Occurrence: Parent Contact
Fourth Occurrence: Office Referral
Comments and Questions: Parents may contact me at school (735-4800) between the hours of 8:10
and 3:15 or by email at shareedavis@mooreschools.com.
I am looking forward to a GREAT year!!!!
