Miss Davis –Math Analysis Classroom Procedures 2013-14 Classroom Supplies: 2 composition books, highlighter (any color), 4 glue sticks, pencils; 4 AAA batteries, 1” three ring binder with six dividers, colored grading pen, notebook paper, one box Kleenex. Glue Sticks and Kleenex are considered class room supplies. Calculators: We will primarily use the TI-83/84 series in class. All students will need a calculator for use outside of class. I highly recommend having access to a graphing calculator at home. There will be times you will have to come in before or after school to complete assignments where the graphing calculator is needed. Pen vs. Pencil: ALL correspondence turned into Miss Davis must be done in PENCIL. Work done in pen will not receive credit. Grading: Grades will be given on a points earned out of points possible basis. No grades will be dropped. Semester grades will be weighted 80% current semester average, 20% semester test grade. Anytime your class average falls below a 60%, you will be marked ineligible for any extracurricular activities (see student handbook). Grades will be updated on Infinite Campus each Wednesday. Notes: All notes will be taken in your composition notebooks. Notes will need to be neat and organized with handouts in appropriate locations. I will randomly check notes for a grade. Class work: Will be assigned daily. Check your unit calendar. For most assignments, a ten point HW grade will be given. Homework should be done the night it is assigned. A completion grade will be given per the rubric below. The second day, five problems per assignment will be selected by Miss Davis, highlighted, and graded for accuracy OR a five point quiz will be given over the assignment. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get your work checked before school or at the beginning of lunch. One day for every day you were absent. Student attempts all problems in a neat and orderly manner, including proper justification, and demonstrates a good understanding of the concepts. Each “plus” is worth 5 homework points. Student attempts at least 75% of the problems in a neat and orderly manner, including proper justification, and demonstrates a good understanding of the concepts. A “check” is worth 3 homework points. Student attempts less than 75% of the problems. Each “minus” is worth 0. If the assignment is not completed by the end of the unit, additional points will be lost when the notebooks are graded. 5 3 0 Quizzes: Pre-announced quizzes will be listed on the unit assignment sheet. Please write them on your calendar and be aware of them. These quizzes are worth 20-50 points. Tests: Tests will usually be given at the end of each unit and are listed on the assignment sheet. They will be worth anywhere from 70-120 points. Projects: Some units will contain a project (some group, some individual). Project point value will vary, but will be announced when the project is announced. Late work: Late work will not be accepted. Make-up Work: It is the student’s responsibility to obtain all missed assignments and notes, as well as make arrangements to make up any missed tests and quizzes. If you miss a unit exam, composition books are due the day you make up the exam. See student hand book for details. Attendance: I will follow the Moore Public Schools Attendance Policy. Please remember two tardies are equivalent to one absence. See your student handbook for further detail. You must sign the tardy sheet every time you come in late or you will be considered absent. Hall Passes: Hall passes can be found in your student planner. You must have YOUR planner and YOUR student ID to be able to leave the room. You will have 10 minutes of before school or lunch detention for every “bathroom break” you take. Failure to serve detention will result in a parent phone call and referral. Food and Drink: Candy may be sold and eaten as long as you clean up after yourselves and you do not disrupt class. Beverage policy will be consistent with the Westmoore policy. Discipline Plan: I do not expect any problems to arise during my class, but if one does occur, here are the steps that will be taken to eliminate the problem or disruptive behavior: First Occurrence: Verbal Warning Second Occurrence: Detention (15 minutes, AM only) Third Occurrence: Parent Contact Fourth Occurrence: Office Referral Comments and Questions: Parents may contact me at school (735-4800) between the hours of 7:50 and 3:00 or by email at ( shareedavis@mooreschools.com ). Looking forward to a GREAT year!!!! Miss Davis
