ETAP Ph.D. Questionnaire/Statement of Background
and Goals
Please complete these questions as an integrated part of your statement of
background and goals as indicated on the graduate application.
Be sure to include your name and birth date on your response. If your response is
not correctly labeled, it may delay the review of your application.
Please present your responses to the following questions in a 1-2 page essay:
1. What are your reasons for choosing to pursue a PhD in ETAP?
2. Describe relevant experiences that have led you to pursue this PhD.
3. What topics might you want to study in your doctoral program? Explain
why.
4. What specific research questions might you want to investigate as part of
your course or dissertation work? Discuss.
5. What career might you like to pursue once completing your PhD, and how
do you see yourself contributing to that field?
