People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of a jet dye applicator and printing faults; operate a jet dye applicator; and carry out batch end procedures. They refer to manuals, manufacturer's specification, codes of practice, or policy statements. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of a jet dye applicator and printing faults. Evidence requirements 1.1 Sections of a jet dye applicator are identified and described in terms of their function and operation. Range 1.2 substrate feed, pre-wet-out system, print heads, machine controls, pumps, air pressure, filters. Faults caused during jet printing are identified, their cause stated, and the corrective action described. Outcome 2 Operate a jet dye applicator. Evidence requirements 2.1 Jet dye applicator is operated in accordance with machine requirement and workplace procedures. Range 2.2 Printing faults and machine malfunctions which occur during processing are identified and action taken according to workplace procedures. Range 2.3 faulty valve cards, pattern faults. Instrumentation, control devices and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) systems are operated according to workplace procedures. Range 2.4 controls identified, machine alarms monitored and acted on. devices installed in workplace. Records are kept according to workplace procedures. Outcome 3 Carry out batch end procedures. Evidence requirements 3.1 Printing according to workplace procedures. 3.2 Jet dye applicator is cleaned at the end of a batch according to plant requirement and in accordance with workplace procedures. This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by the last date for assessment set out below.
