Definitions
Knowledge refers to information sourced in education literature and observation of
practice.
Teaching as inquiry refers to the teacher action described in The New Zealand
Curriculum, Learning Media Limited, Ministry of Education, Wellington, 2007.
Effectiveness of teaching and learning experiences refers to how well teacher actions
created a supportive learning environment, encouraged reflective thought and action,
enhanced the relevance of new learning, facilitated shared learning, made
connections to prior learning and experience, and provided sufficient opportunities to
learn.

before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses
of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
