Definitions
Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which
are communicated in an oral or written form. These requirements must include
legislation and safety requirements and may include but are not limited to – industry
codes of practice and standards.
Retail environment refers to workplaces where the primary focus is on customers
purchasing goods and/or services but may also include a distribution type of
environment.

Legislation that applies to this unit standard includes but is not limited to – the
Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, the Sale of Goods Act
1908, and the Food Act 1981.
