NZQA registered unit standard 28219 version 1 Page 1 of 3 Title Install hardware on doors and windows Level 4 Purpose Credits 10 This unit standard is for experienced people working in a joinery workshop producing doors and windows. People credited with this unit standard are able to: install door hardware; and install window hardware. Classification Joinery > Joinery Operational Skills Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 All workplace practices must comply with current legislation, codes of practice, and documented site safety procedures for personal, product, and worksite safety. 2 Legislation and regulations relevant to this unit standard include but are not limited to – Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995, NZS 3610:1979, Specification for profiles of mouldings and joinery; available from http://www.standards.co.nz. 3 Windows may include but are not limited to – hinged, awning, double-hung, louvre, sliding/folding, sliding, pivot. 4 Doors may include but are not limited to – single swing, double swing, bifold, sliding/folding, sliding. 5 For assessment purposes one window and one door, of any type, to be installed. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Install door hardware. Evidence requirements 1.1 The type of door hardware is identified from the job specifications. 1.2 An order is prepared, if required, in accordance with workplace practice. 1.3 The door hardware is installed in accordance with the job and manufacturer specifications. Evidence requirements 2.1 The type of window hardware is identified from the job specifications. 2.2 An order is prepared, if required, in accordance with workplace practice. 2.3 The window hardware is installed in accordance with the job and manufacturer specifications. 2.4 The window hardware is adjusted so that the window fulfils its intended function in accordance with workplace practice.
