Explanatory notes 1 All work practices must meet enterprise health and safety requirements. 2 Definitions Enterprise means an organisation where training and/or assessment is taking place, and/or where the trainee is employed. Enterprise procedures are defined as actions which comply with the policies, systems, and directives in a particular enterprise. Enterprise procedures must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and subsequent amendments. Simple extrusion blow moulds may have the following features – central neck, single cavity, simple deflash, striker plates. A simple mould also includes blow pin, extrusion pin and die, and stripper. Evidence requirements 1.1 The extrusion blow moulding machine is prepared for a mould change in accordance with enterprise procedures. 1.2 Mould is removed from the machine in accordance with enterprise procedures. 1.3 Replacement mould is selected, and prepared for fitting in accordance with enterprise procedures. 1.4 Extrusion pin and die are selected and changed in accordance with the job specification and enterprise procedures. 1.5 Mould change is carried out in accordance with enterprise procedures. 1.6 Machine is set to job specification. Outcome 2 Set up ancillary equipment for extrusion blow moulding. Range ancillary equipment may include – granulators, mould chillers, hopper loaders, dryers, material mixers, colour dosers; evidence to be demonstrated for three types, and knowledge of remaining three types. Evidence requirements 2.1 Ancillary equipment is selected in accordance with enterprise procedures. 2.2 Ancillary equipment is set up in accordance with enterprise procedures.
