Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to remove and
fit: an extrusion blow moulding die head assembly; and an
extrusion blow moulding machine extruder screw.

Definitions
Enterprise means an organisation where training and/or assessment is taking place,
and/or where the trainee is employed.
Enterprise procedures are defined as actions which comply with the policies,
systems, and directives in a particular enterprise. Enterprise procedures must
comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and
subsequent amendments.

Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Remove and fit an extrusion blow moulding die head assembly.
Evidence requirements
1.1
The blow moulding machine is prepared for a die head change in accordance
with enterprise procedures.
1.2
Die head is removed using machine manufacturer’s procedure in accordance
with enterprise procedures.
1.3
Replacement die head is prepared in accordance with enterprise procedures.
1.4
Replacement die head fitting is performed using machine manufacturer’s
procedure in accordance with enterprise procedures.
1.5
Machine is set to job specification.
Outcome 2
Remove and fit a blow moulding machine extruder screw.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Screw is removed using machine manufacturer's procedure in accordance with
enterprise procedures.
2.2
Screw is cleaned in accordance with enterprise procedures.
2.3
Screw is inspected for physical damage, and any defects are recorded and
reported in accordance with enterprise procedures.
2.4
Barrel is cleaned and inspected, condition is recorded, and any damage is
reported in accordance with enterprise procedures.
2.5
Screw is selected to job specification, and is fitted to the blow moulding machine
using manufacturer's procedures.
