Range: 1.3 First draft schedule prepared includes key production and harvesting dates identified for each crop and specimen. Range: 1.4 planting advance or delay, growing environment modification, use of growth regulators, early or late harvest, arranging post-harvest storage. Risk factors in changing key dates are identified and assessed in determining if changes will be made. Range: 1.6 media preparation, planting, identifiable cultivation requirements, identifiable pest and disease control requirements, harvest completion, post-harvest requirements. Methods which may be used to change key dates are assessed for each crop. Range: 1.5 market demand, processor and packer requirements, seasonal factors, crop rotation patterns, storage available, specialist equipment availability, labour availability. weather, missing best markets and lower return, cost of additional resources, pest and disease periods. Incorporation of adjusted key production and harvest dates enables balanced resource commitment while achieving targets within defined risk limits. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 3014 version 4 28-Jun-16 3 of 3 HORTICULTURE PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT Plan and manage production and harvesting schedules for defined horticulture operation element 2 Manage implementation of plan. performance criteria 2.1 Strategies adopted ensure plan implementation meets key production and harvest schedules. 2.2 Procedures adopted to monitor performance against established schedule provide information for review and adjustment of schedule items as required. 2.3 Adjustments made to operational schedule minimise risk and maximise efficiency of resource use and returns.
