People credited with this unit standard will be able to – apply
knowledge of plant physiology to identify growing media
requirements for a defined crop or specimen; select the
growing media; assess the current state of that media;
interpret test results; plan and manage the application or
implementation of selected treatments and procedures to
modify the medium as required; monitor the effects; and
evaluate the outcomes.

with the manufacturer's recommendations.

Procedures required in the modification of the media are specified for use by
applicator or operator.

Timing of modification activities matches availability of resources and media
condition which enables modification to be completed most effectively.
2.4
Monitoring of modification process ensures specified application procedures are
adhered to.
2.5
Results of post-modification assessment determine need for additional action to
meet crop or specimen requirements, and form the basis for an implementation
plan if required.
