Range: physical, chemical, biological. 1.2 Characteristics of available growing media options are assessed to determine their compatibility with crop or specimen media requirements. 1.3 Selection of media takes account of economic factors involved in establishment and management of the media. element 2 Plan and implement required modification of the growing media. performance criteria 2.1 Materials selected for media modification are specified for use in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. 2.2 Procedures required in the modification of the media are specified for use by applicator or operator. 2.3 Timing of modification activities matches availability of resources and media condition which enables modification to be completed most effectively. 2.4 Monitoring of modification process ensures specified application procedures are adhered to. 2.5 Results of post-modification assessment determine need for additional action to meet crop or specimen requirements, and form the basis for an implementation plan if required.
