Explanatory notes 1 All explanations, descriptions, and plans must meet the documentation requirements established by the assessing body, and comply with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements including Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and the Resource Management Act 1991, and their subsequent amendments. 2 Case studies may be used as the basis for this unit standard. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Identify work attributes of forestry personnel. Evidence requirements 1.1 Assessment of individual member work attributes identifies strengths and weaknesses against a set group of factors. Evidence requirements 2.1 Structures developed for work teams balance individual attributes and characteristics to achieve functional work unit standards and facilitate achievement of work team production targets. 2.2 Provision is made in planning for work team balance requirements to be addressed when team membership is changed. Outcome 3 Plan forestry personnel development. Evidence requirements 3.1 System proposed for definition of personnel development needs uses identified attributes of individuals as the basis for development planning. 3.2 System proposed includes procedures for discussion of identified development requirements with the individual concerned to determine appropriate development strategies and required outcomes. Range 3.3 range and focus of skills and knowledge to be developed, method of development, timing, support available, management expectations, individual benefit. Procedures adopted to incorporate individual development plans into an operation-wide plan define implementation requirements and processes to be used. Range scheduling development activities, replacements in work teams, resource requirements, placement or use of individuals with increased skills and knowledge. 3.4 Workforce development plans facilitate achievement of business plans for the operation through articulation of business development and personnel development focus. 3.5 Procedures developed for implementation include procedures for evaluation of personnel development achievements against targets established for individuals and the business. Evidence requirements 4.1 Strategies adopted for setting of workplace targets incorporate input from business personnel and seek to accommodate the needs of all staff members. Range social, cultural, financial, personal. 4.2 Procedures planned for reaching solutions to workplace problems acknowledge expertise in the workforce and provide for drawing on that expertise as identified problems require. 4.3 Plans developed include strategies for recognition and reward of workplace and personal achievements of business personnel. 4.4 Strategies developed to deal with workplace change ensure workplace members participate in solution development. 4.5 Strategies developed to deal with workplace conflict are based on standards of work and behaviour agreed to at employment, facilitate conflict resolution, and conform with legal requirements of the employment situation.
