Purpose
This theory-based unit standard is for people who work in the
industrial textile fabrication industry. People credited with this
unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of: cutting
equipment in the industrial textile fabrication industry; and
cutting and shaping material.

Definition
Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which
are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and
procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality
specifications, and legislative requirements.

Cutting equipment and their particular uses are identified in accordance with the
manufacturer specifications.

Fabric cutting characteristics are described in accordance with the manufacturer
specifications.
Range

Procedures for cutting complex shapes are described in accordance with
company requirements.

Importance of labelling the cut pieces, and procedures for doing this are
explained in accordance with company requirements.
