Explanatory notes 1 Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes but is not limited to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. 2 Definition Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace. These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality specifications, and legislative requirements. Evidence requirements 1.1 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task in accordance with legislative requirements. Range hand and power tools, hot knife, scissors. Outcome 2 Cut out pieces. Evidence requirements 2.1 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task in accordance with legislative requirements. Range 2.2 personal safety; safety of other people; workshop safety; tool, equipment, and machine safety. Pieces are cut out to the marked lines at the workplace required speed and quality in accordance with job specifications and company requirements. Range bulk cutting, single layer cutting; hand tools, power tools, hot knife, scissors. 2.3 Complex shapes are cut in accordance with job specifications and company requirements. 2.4 Cut pieces are checked and labelled in accordance with company requirements. Range may include but is not limited to – assembly, storage, customer requirements. 2.5 Unused materials and offcuts are stored and/or disposed of in accordance with company requirements. 2.6 Work area is cleared and cleaned to ensure safe operating conditions in accordance with company requirements. Range personal safety; safety of other people; workshop safety; tool, equipment, and machine safety. 3.2 Hand cutting tools are maintained in accordance with the manufacturer specifications and company requirements. 3.3 Power tools are maintained in accordance with the manufacturer specifications and company requirements.
