People credited with this unit standard are able to: select and

Definitions
Safe working practices – work practices designed to prevent personal injuries and
damage to equipment and plant. This includes practices relating to personal attire
and use of safety clothing and equipment, use of machinery and tools, and handling
of materials and waste.
Worksite procedures – operational procedures put in place by the candidate’s
employer. These include site safety procedures, equipment operating procedures,
job procedures, and procedures for the handling and disposal of materials and waste.

Assessment Information

All activities must comply with relevant legislative and/or regulatory
requirements, which include, but are not limited to, the Health and Safety in
Employment Act 1992.

All activities must demonstrate safe working practices.

Advanced material cutting tools may include but are not limited to – high speed,
long life, multi-insert, and special material tooling.

Evidence of at least three different types of tools is required.

Drawings, instructions, and specifications are interpreted to establish cutting
requirements.

Tools and procedures are selected to meet material and specifications.

Safety requirements when using cutting tools are identified and explained in
accordance with worksite procedures.

Perform machining operations using advanced material cutting tools.

procedures.
