People credited with this unit standard are able to: fit reinforcements; and select and fit attachments, used in the industrial textile fabrication industry. Explanatory notes 1 Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes but is not limited to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. 2 Definition Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace. These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality specifications, and legislative requirements. Evidence requirements 1.1 Safe work practices are carried out throughout the task in accordance with company and legislative requirements. Area where reinforcements are to be fitted is identified in accordance with job and manufacturer specifications. Range 1.4 personal safety; safety of other people; workshop safety; tool, equipment, and machine safety. Tools and equipment for fitting reinforcements and attachments are identified in accordance with the manufacturer specifications. Range 1.3 23484 version 2 Page 2 of 3 may include but is not limited to – edge and corner patches, attachments, flapping and rubbing, seams. Reinforcing material is selected in accordance with job and manufacturer specifications. Range may include but is not limited to – webbing, Velcro tape, Dacron tape, sticky back tape. 1.5 Reinforcements are attached in accordance with job and manufacturer specifications, and company requirements. 1.6 Ropes are attached as specified by customer and in accordance with company requirements. Outcome 2 Select and fit attachments used in the industrial textile fabrication industry. Evidence requirements 2.1 Fasteners and fittings are selected in accordance with job and manufacturer specifications. 2.2 Fasteners and fittings are attached to the product at the workplace required speed in accordance with job and manufacturer specifications. 2.3 Attachment of fasteners and fittings conform to company requirements and manufacturer specifications. 2.4 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task in accordance with legislative requirements.
