Classification Diving > Diving - General Available grade Achieved Entry information Critical health and safety prerequisites Entry is restricted to those in possession of the entry level certification as recognised by the New Zealand Underwater Training Council (NZURTC) or equivalent, as determined by the Dive Industry Training Organisation. Explanatory notes 1 Industry technical and safety criteria refer to the training manuals of the training agencies approved by the Dive Industry Training Organisation. 2 All workplace diving practice must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act, 1992 (HSE) and subsequent regulations relating to Occupational Diving. All practice must also comply with Accident Rehabilitation and Compensation Insurance Act, 1992 (ACRI) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) guidelines. 3 All training providers assessing against any recreational diving unit standards must ensure that the training is conducted by a qualified instructor in current teaching status with one of the listed agencies: National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI), Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), Scuba Schools International (SSI), Confederation Mondiale des Activities Subaquatique (CMAS) (or an equivalent determined by the ITO), and the instructor is providing training in accordance with the standards and procedures of the respective training agency. Range 1.2 requirements - approved cylinders, colour coding, dive planning, stamping, compliance, adequate filtering, compatible equipment and materials; hazards - equipment contamination, oxygen toxicity, explosion risk, decompression illness, EANx blend analysis. The dive plan is prepared to industry technical and safety criteria. Outcome 2 Prepare to dive using EANx. Evidence requirements 2.1 Equipment and blend selected meet industry technical and safety criteria. Range 2.2 Dive preparation ensures that equipment is maintained to industry technical and safety criteria. Range 2.3 cylinder, regulator, gauges and accessories, valves, oxygen compatibility/clean, labelling, blend analysis. cylinder specifications, coding, stamping, O2 cleaning of equipment. Site selected is within limitations of client and meets industry technical and safety criteria. This unit standard is Dive using EANx. expiring Outcome 3 Evidence requirements 3.1 Dive plan is adhered to. 3.2 Monitoring of depth and time meets EANx criteria and industry technical and safety criteria. 3.3 Remedial action is taken to avoid hazards. 3.4 EANx dive practice is within recreational diving maximum limits and meets industry technical and safety criteria. Outcome 4 Disassemble and maintain equipment used for EANx dives. Range dust caps, contamination avoided, lubricant incompatibility. 4.3 Cylinder use meets industry technical and safety criteria. 4.4 Servicing and maintenance include parts compatible with elevated O 2 mix and meet industry technical and safety criteria.
