People credited with this unit standard are able to: plan an
EANx dive; prepare to dive using EANx; dive using EANx; and
disassemble and maintain equipment used for EANx dives.

Critical health and
safety prerequisites
Entry is restricted to those in possession of the entry level
certification as recognised by the New Zealand Underwater
Training Council (NZURTC) or equivalent, as determined by
the Dive Industry Training Organisation.
Explanatory notes
1
Industry technical and safety criteria refer to the training manuals of the training
agencies approved by the Dive Industry Training Organisation.

All workplace diving practice must comply with the requirements of the Health and
Safety in Employment Act, 1992 (HSE) and subsequent regulations relating to
Occupational Diving. All practice must also comply with Accident Rehabilitation and
Compensation Insurance Act, 1992 (ACRI) and Occupational Safety and Health
(OSH) guidelines.

All training providers assessing against any recreational diving unit standards must
ensure that the training is conducted by a qualified instructor in current teaching
status with one of the listed agencies: National Association of Underwater Instructors
(NAUI), Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), Scuba Schools
International (SSI), Confederation Mondiale des Activities Subaquatique (CMAS) (or
an equivalent determined by the ITO), and the instructor is providing training in
accordance with the standards and procedures of the respective training agency.

Evidence requirements
1.1
The requirements of EANx use and hazards are identified to industry technical
and safety criteria.
Range
1.2

stamping, compliance, adequate filtering, compatible equipment
and materials;
hazards - equipment contamination, oxygen toxicity, explosion
risk, decompression illness, EANx blend analysis.
The dive plan is prepared to industry technical and safety criteria.

2.1
Equipment and blend selected meet industry technical and safety criteria.

Evidence requirements
4.1
Positive pressure is maintained in cylinder and avoids entry of atmospheric air.
4.2
Regulator and gauges are disassembled to industry technical and safety
criteria.
